Successful job interview

It can be very scary going for a job interview, let alone in English when it’s not your first language. I will be giving you some examples of common questions, and how to answer the questions. So, stay tuned to learn how to smash that interview. 

How to prepare for a job interview?

Stay familiar with the most common questions and possible answers.

Tell me a little bit about yourself? – Here is where you tell the employer a little bit about yourself. For example, your hobbies and interests, your background, education. 

Where did you hear about this job? – Tell the employer how you came across the job, for example, internet, friends. 

Why do you want to work here? – This is your opportunity to let the employer know what you know about the company. 

What was your last job? or What qualifications do you have? – The employer wants to know if you have the right experience for the job, so tell them what you have done related to the job. 

Why did you leave your last job? – Tell the employer why you left your last job. Try to keep it positive. 

What are your strengths and weaknesses? – Here is where you tell them what you are good at, and not so good at. Try and focus on the positives. 

How are you working under pressure? – The employer wants to know you can keep calm, when you have a lot of work and deadlines. 

Where do you see yourself in 5 years? – This question is to find out if you want to stay for a long period of time, and if you are committed. 

Why should I hire you? – Here you tell the employer why they should pick you, so try and sell yourself.
